Part of the Feathers series, inspired by the movement, magic and mystery of mythical and exotic birds. Each abstract piece evokes the sense and mood of each creature and its story, rather than being representational.
Originally from India, peacocks can trace their history back to biblical times. They symbolise a multitude of ideas across different cultures: from good fortune and abundance to omens of death.
Much like the Phoenix painting that began the Feathers series, I have taken the symbolic representation favoured by the Romans: renew, rebirth and resurrection.
Multiple layers of acrylic paint and gel mediums - and various shaping, brushwork and palette techniques - have been applied to create different textures that reflect light. This mimics the iridescent and light reflective quality of feathers - and how they can shimmer and change colour under different light.
Each comes in an 16 x 12 inch (30.48 x 40.64 cm) acid-free ice-white mount, with a backing board and plastic sleeve. Frames shown are for illustration only.
Each one signed by the artist and comes with a certificate of authenticity.
